Hambye Abbey one foot in the Middle Ages

Keen to pass on its rich heritage, the abbey organizes fun, themed tours for young visitors, with an experienced tour guide to captivate children’s attention.

If I were a monk...

invites children to take the monastic habit for a visit and relive the daily life of these individuals dedicated to the service of God and their fellow human beings. What time do monks get up? How do they spend their day? Do they just pray? These are just some of the questions that will be raised on this fascinating tour.

Wonderful medieval animals

will enchant children and stimulate their imagination with these tales where reality meets magic. Chimeras and other fabulous animals will take shape before their eyes as they read these tales.

Modeling workshop

Modelling is both fun and educational, and the perfect way to stimulate creativity and dexterity. By manipulating clay, young artists discover the basics of ceramics, from conception to completion. This activity allows them to express themselves freely while learning traditional craft techniques.

Enameling workshop

Try your hand at enameling in a 2-hour workshop with the museum’s ceramist!

On an object previously turned and fired at low temperature (we call it a cookie… but it’s not very good to eat!), you’ll create an enamel decoration: your first name, a character, leaves, flowers or other according to your inspiration.

The Ceramics Museum a land of creativity

The museum offers permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as demonstrations and workshops to discover the art of ceramics. It’s an educational and cultural venue that celebrates Normandy’s rich craft heritage, and offers modeling workshops and other activities for children.

The Ecomuseum of the Bay discover the bay's ecosystem

Through interactive exhibits and reconstructions, visitors can explore traditional trades, such as fishing and saliculture, as well as the bay’s exceptional biodiversity. The eco-museum also offers educational activities and entertainment for children, to help them better understand the importance of preserving this emblematic environment.

Discover the world of hedgehogs living in the countryside with Guillaume Morin, from Biosphère & Compagnie, and make your own nesting box.

Storytelling showLa Fée des Grèves

In conjunction with the temporary exhibition, Antoine Lefranc will take up the texts of the “Fée des Grèves” and tell this local story with a live artistic creation by Mathilde Loisel, the book’s illustrator.

A musician will provide the musical accompaniment for this evening of storytelling.

Créa'nit workshop

A workshop combining granite and modeling. You’re invited to model an object while adding fragments of granite chosen beforehand from the museum’s quarry. Ages 5 and up. Reservations required.

Atelier Stéartiste

An introduction to carving soapstone (a very soft stone). Equipped with files, riffle-blades and patience, children will use their imagination to give their little steatite block the shape they want. Reservations required.

Sculptor's apprentice

Using specially adapted tools, you’ll learn to carve not in granite, but in limestone, a much softer stone.

Ages 8 and up. Booking essential.

Paper workshop

Come and make a sheet of recycled paper the way the paper-makers of Brouains did. Ages 5 and up.

Parc-Musée du Granit slip into the shoes of a stonecutter!

Through exhibits, tools and demonstrations, visitors discover the skills of craftsmen and the importance of granite in Normandy’s architectural heritage. The surrounding park offers a natural setting to admire granite sculptures and enjoy themed trails for an immersive, educational experience.
