Hikes along the river

Immerse yourself in a refreshing escape through the Normandy bocage as you explore three riverside hikes. These trails wind their way through verdant landscapes, offering a welcome refuge on hot summer days. Let yourself be seduced by the gentle murmur of the rivers and the revitalizing coolness of these shady trails. An unforgettable experience where nature becomes your ally in escaping the stifling heat.

The Valley de l'Airou

Departing from Champrépus, in a verdant setting in the heart of the Airou valley, this hike offers an unobstructed view of the Normandy bocage and is crossed by two rivers: the Douquette and the Airou. The latter, a tributary of the Sienne, is home to numerous species. Don’t miss the Pont du Guibel, a viaduct built in 1869 under Napoleon II.

Le Papillon on the water

Not far from the Mortain waterfalls, Saint-Pois is a picturesque hillside village. In the heart of this granite country, this hike offers several viewpoints over the Vallée de la Sée and the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel. For several kilometers, follow the Glanon, a 1st category river: you may spot wild trout, wagtails, kingfishers or herons.

The loop du Chefresne

A short 8km loop, this hike begins in the Protestant village of Le Chefresne. At the start of the walk, you can enjoy a view of the village of Percy-en-Normandie and its bell tower. As you make your way through the Normandy bocage, enjoy the shade of the trees and stop for a pleasant
stop for a pleasant break on the banks of the Etang du Chefresne. It is home to several pairs of swans. Don’t miss the Protestant temples that reflect the commune’s past.
