WIDE-EYED WONDER SINCE 2002!

La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg recounts man’s adventures under the sea. Under the great Art deco vault of what used to be the Transatlantic liner terminal, it has taken over this unique architectural heritage, built in 1933, figurehead of the largest artificial roadstead in the world!

Come aboard the nuclear ballistic missile submarine*: LE REDOUTABLE, jewel of the French Navy.
*For safety reasons, children under 5 years old are not admitted.

TITANIC, RETURN TO CHERBOURG**
The exhibition dating from 2012, more than 100 years after the disaster, visitors re-live the only crossing of the Titanic and become a witness of this historic voyage, follow the route of 50 million emigrants in the stately Art Deco Baggage Hall and learn about the History of European emigration to the New World.
**When there is a ship stopover, the Emigration area is closed to the public but the Titanic exhibition remains opened.

EVENT 2023
ARTIFACTS AND STORIES
43 artefacts recovered from the debris field surrounding the Titanic will be on display from March 21st. In partnership with RMS Titanic, Inc., owning the whole collection in Atlanta, USA, La Cité de la Mer will present a new selection of artefacts that were transported on board the most famous of ocean steamships. The selection of equipment from the ship together with personal belongings will serve to illustrate life on board the Titanic and tell the stories of some of the passengers, the owners of various items including a little toy aeroplane still in its box, a clarinet and a golden purse...

THE OCEAN OF THE FUTURE
3 floors of new spectacular multimedia displays, stunning aquariums full of life and colour. A declaration of love to the beauty of the ocean and its essential role.

The film "20 DAYS FOR CHERBOURG" about the liberation of Cherbourg during the Second World War and the exhibition « Cherbourg 1944… and freedom came from the sea » about this battle of the 20 days in Cotentin during D-Day landing.

The film "WHEN THE SEA TELLS ABOUT NORMANDY" about the cross history of Normandy and the sea, from Vikings until today.
