Description

The hangar was built by the french national navy as a shelter for the airships, used to spot the german submarines during the first world war. After the german occupation, it was used by the Americans who left there numerous and outstanding graffitis. Unique in Europe, the visit of this huge building is in 2 steps : on the one hand, the museum explaining its history and an exhibition about the battle of Montebourg in 1944 and on the other hand, the visit of the hangar with the possibility to fly indoor with a single-seat airship (only in July and August or during the days « portes ouvertes »). The goal of the charity Les Amis du Hangar is to renovate the hangar and to create events. Groups on request.
